In Year 6 we have used the tale ‘George and the Dragon’ to create diary entries about the different emotions different characters felt in the tale. We concentrated on the emotions and feelings of 4 characters: - THE KING – PRINCESS SABRA – THE DRAGON and THE TOWNS FOLK – here are three examples of the childrens creative work.

I am the King and I will not let my daughter be killed. But, what will I do? I need someone to come and fight the dragon and save the day. The village and I will be sad if my daughter is killed by the dragon. I am the king and I can not give up, what am I to do? I must beat the dragon and save my daughter.

I’m incredibly lucky to be alive. Everyday feels and could be a day nearer to my death day. Surly an angel from heaven must be keeping me alive. I think I should enjoy the time I have left because I just do not know when it will all be over. My name could be next in the ‘lottery of Death’. I am feeling anxious and scared; the dragon could just decide to come to my home and then rip my limbs apart. What use is the King? What has he done? I’ll tell you NOTHING! What a ruler King Eric is, leaving his village to the mercy of the dragon. Please Lord send us help!

I have been assigned the most delicious banquet with the juiciest, most succulent thing as the main course. Yes you have guessed the beloved Princess. Her name was drawn in the lottery of death and tomorrow she will be the main course of my dinner. I am so excited I can feel and taste her crimson nectar like blood flowing down my throat. Oh I just cant wait to suck out her bone marrow and crush all her bones. What an amazing treat! I am so excited! Being so young and fresh her soft gooey brains will delight my stomach. I’m drooling just thinking about it. I shall save her liver and heart till last and savour every moment. Oh yes, I can not keep my excitement in. I can't stop drooling! I need to sleep and gather my strength for tomorrow, what a day it will be.
